Oatmeal, cherry, and dark chocolate cookies

So, first, no that is not a picture of my cookies I am about to talk about, but silly me forgot to take a picture before they were all eaten. We had a big staff meeting at work the other day, and I decided to make my famous cookies, and because they are so awesome, and I put them in cute boxes, everyone was pretty impressed. Since I feel like I should basically open a bakery, I thought I would share my recipe, which is deceptively simple.

For my oatmeal, cherry, dark chocolate cookies, follow the recipe below, which is the one that comes on the lid of quakers oats, with some touches of my own.

1 stick butter

1/2 c. granulated sugar

3/4 c. packed brown sugar

1 tsp. vanilla

2 eggs

1 1/2 c. flour

1 tsp. baking soada

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp. nutmeg

3 c. oats

2 c. dark chocolate chips

2 c. dried cherries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Cream butter and sugar, then add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla extract. In a separate bowl mix flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and baking soda and slowly add to the wet ingredients. Once combined add oats and mix until combined. Fold in cherries and chocolate chips. Using a tablespoon or small ice cream scoop space cookies evenly apart on cookie sheet and flatten slightly. Bake for about 8-10 minutes.

And enjoy! These are my favorite cookies, like a combination between a traditional oatmeal and chocolate chip cookie with a tart twist from the cherries, yum!
