So, I officially finished Recovery on Monday! Well, the first draft, and now I am working on transcribing it into my word document to get a final word count and start my first set of revisions. And transcribing takes forever! I fell like I got the writing done so quickly when I was sitting in the coffee shop with my headphones in (and my music too loud – as my phone notified me) and my pen flowing over the pages. It feels like typing it takes twice as long, and I just want to be done. I have come to dread copying my chapters from my journal onto the computer, and I don’t really have a reason why.

I also have not been getting up at 6 every morning, like I usually do, giving myself at least one solid hour of typing time, so it’s been slow going with the transcribing this week. Today was the most I have gotten done before leaving for work. Tomorrow I have an event I am helping to host so I plan to take my Surface and sit at Starbucks and transcribe between work and the event, that should get a good chunk done. Basically, progress is slow, but happening, and I will definitely get it done by the end of the weekend, like I promised!

As I finish up though, the thought of editing is starting to squirm around in my brain, and I have a lot of questions as to my work and how I should do it. But more about that on Friday!

  1. Hahaha yeah this is definitely one of the biggest reasons I stopped writing with pen in the first place. It is such a pain and often feels as though it isn’t worth it. But, you know, if that’s what it takes, then by all means, do what you got to do. Right?
