You may remember, I tried to read Winter’s Tale a while back. And just couldn’t do it. Well I had the movie in my Netflix queue, but it was on HBO the other night, and I wasn’t really in a reading mood (my eyes were tired) so I decided to go for it!
It did not make me want to try to read the book again.
The first 60 pages of the book (as far as I got) took about 10 minutes in the movie, and it was probably about as exciting as reading it. I liked all the actors, the horse was pretty, and I enjoyed the narration. But it was still so out there that I couldn’t really get into it. I mean consumption equals a fever that you keep controlled by staying cold? Where did the magic horse with wings made of light come from? Was Will Smith the Devil? And who the hell was the little girl Colin Ferrel saved and why was she important, and if she was the whole point what was the point in him falling in love with the girl from Downton Abbey?
It just didn’t make any sense to me! Since the movie didn’t do anything, I have no intention to try and read the book again, it’s getting archived. Have any of you seen the movie/read the book, what did you think?
