April NaNo

I can’t believe it’s already the middle of the month!

I’ve set myself a 30,000 word count goal, so 1,000 words a day to be achieved to stay on track with NaNo. Well I have had a couple no write days, but I had managed to never fall too far behind, and last night I was able to catch up, and actually make it over my necessary word count to date! I am at just over 14,200 words – so no need to give me hell!

I’m getting close to the big breakout scene, and it’s kind of terrifying but also so exciting. I’m not convinced it’s ready to be written, but at the same time I can’t wait to get it on paper and am thinking about it all the time.

Well, I figure since I am doing so much writing I would go ahead and share anther clip. This one is Brigid getting up to no good and preparing for the escape by setting a timed detonator to take out the power.

I pull the detonator from my waistband, as well as the small knife hooked on my back pocket. Flipping it open, I gently slice away the covering of the wire running from the box to the main power source farther down the wall. When the wires are finally exposed, I set the time on the detonator for the following day at midnight, and then twist its wires around the newly exposed ones. I let out a shaky breath I hadn’t noticed I’d been holding and start to push myself back down the beam. That’s when I hear footsteps echoing underneath me, heading toward the barricaded door.

It’s ok. With my NaNo writing I am doing most of it on the computer to save time so I’m not getting that fist editing chance as I transfer it from my journal to the Word document. But hey, getting some writing done everyday is feeling good so I’m not too worried.

How are you all doing with writing goals?
